Example: A Year 10 excursion coordinator needs to fill 3 buses for a whole-year excursion — 15 boys, 15 girls, 6 students with learning support needs, and 3 teacher supervisors. Each bus takes 13. She sets 5 Boys + 5 Girls + 2 Supported + 1 Supervisor per bus and generates the full allocation in seconds.
We've pre-loaded 39 people across 4 categories — hit the Generate Groups button (bottom right) to try it. In the dialog, add category entries: 5 Boy + 5 Girl + 2 Supported + 1 Supervisor per bus (3 buses of 13). Each supervisor has also preferenced being with a learning support student — click any supervisor's preference button to see. This shows that Clever Groups works beyond just students: teachers, aides, or any adult in the group can be matched using the same preference system.
Clever Groups handles large-group allocation with multiple constraints in one pass. Any mix of category ratios, group sizes, keep-apart rules, and student preferences is resolved simultaneously — not one constraint at a time.
